Bret Hedican is the current color analyst for the San Jose Sharks and former defensemen in the National Hockey League. A respected NHL veteran, Hedican played 17seasons with the St. Louis Blues, Vancouver Canucks, Florida Panthers, Carolina Hurricanes and Anaheim Ducks spanning over 1,000 regular season games. He was a key member of the Carolina Hurricanes 2006 Stanley Cup-winning team, playing in all 25 playoff games and scoring 11 points. Bret has appeared in three Stanley Cup Finals, twice with Carolina and once with Vancouver. Hedican is also a two-time member of the United States men’s Olympic hockey team (1992, 2006). After a stellar collegiate career at St. Cloud State University, his number 24 was retired by the university in 2010 and he was enshrined into the school’s Hall of Fame in 2017.

Before joining the Sharks broadcast team full-time in 2014, Hedican spent five seasons as a pre-game post-game analyst for NBC Sports California’s coverage of Sharks hockey and “Inside the Glass” analyst for NBCSN. He also provided radio color commentary for Westwood One’s coverage of the 2014 men’s and women’s Olympic hockey tournament in Sochi.

Apart from hockey, Hedican sits on the board of the Always Dream Foundation, where they inspire underserved children to reach for their dreams through innovative reading programs and by advancing the cause of early childhood literacy.
