Bryan Marchment is a former ice hockey defenseman who spent time with nine different NHL franchises. He was initially selected 16th overall by the original Winnipeg Jets back in 1987. Although he was a journeyman, he spent the largest portion of his NHL career in San Jose, playing in 334 games.

Bryan was a force on the ice that was widely considered one of the fiercest and most intimidating players in the NHL. He made a name for himself with game-changing hits that made players fear him when he was on the ice. He also never shied away from a fight when it was necessary. Since his first year in the NHL (1988), he ranks 5th among defenseman in penalty minutes with 2,307 and he played in fewer games than all but one of the four in front of him.

Bryan retired from the NHL in 2006 and didn’t waste much time in finding another role for himself within the Sharks organization. He has worked for the San Jose Sharks as a scout who assists in player development for over 10 years.
