Dan Boyle is a former ice hockey defenseman who announced his retirement in October of 2016. He spent six seasons with a very competitive San Jose Sharks team where he would establish himself as an elite offensive threat on the blue line. Boyle had his most productive years in San Jose scoring 68 goals and adding 201 assists for 269 total points. He is in the top three for the franchise best in goals, assists and points among defensemen.

Boyle started his career as undrafted journeyman after four years of college hockey at Miami University. Even after finding his way on to the Florida Panther roster, he had to go back and forth from the team’s minor league affiliate. He later established himself as an excellent puck-moving defenseman with the Tampa Bay Lightning, where he would win the Stanley Cup in 2004.

Boyle’s talent landed him on to team Canada in the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics where he scored six points (1g, 5a) in seven games to help them win a Gold medal. After 1,093 games played over 17 seasons, Boyle would announce his retirement from the NHL.
