Jamie Baker
Jamie Baker is a former San Jose Shark center with a hard-working, defensive playing style. After being drafted 8th overall in the NHL Supplemental draft by the Quebec Nordiques, he spent time with several NHL franchises, including the San Jose Sharks. In his time with San Jose, Jamie recorded 62 points (35g, 27a) in 186 games played.
As a player, Jamie is best known for one of the biggest goals in San Jose Sharks’ history. In the 1994 Western Conference Quarterfinals, the 8th seeded San Jose Sharks took on the heavily favored 1st seeded Detroit Red Wings. During Game 7 in Detroit, Jamie Baker scored the eventual game-winning goal with only 6:35 left in the 3rd period. It would become one of the greatest upsets in NHL Playoff history and greatest wins for the Sharks franchise.
After retiring in 1999, Baker continued his in career in the hockey world. He spent several years with Dan Rusanowsky and David Maley for Sharks’ radio and helped coach the Santa Clara Blackhawks hockey team. In 2014, he would join Randy Hahn as the television color commentator for Sharks games.
