Kyle Maclaren
Kyle McLaren is a retired NHL defenseman who spent his career with the Boston Bruins and the San Jose Sharks. He played 719 games in the NHL, 302 of them as a member of the San Jose Sharks. Over his career Kyle scored 46 goals and added 161 assists for 207 points.
Selected 9th overall by Boston back in 1995, Kyle made a name for himself with his physicality and defensive dominance. In his first season, the 6’4” defenseman led all rookies in plus/minus and was the only 18 year-old to earn Calder Memorial Trophy votes as the NHL’s best rookie. After being traded to the San Jose Sharks, Kyle became a fan favorite with his famous hip checks and became the first San Jose Shark to register 150 or more hits in a single season.
Kyle retired from the NHL after the 12 seasons, playing in his final NHL game in the 2007-08 season. He is now a member of the Sharks Alumni Foundation.
