Mike Rathje is a former defenseman for the San Jose Sharks who spent 11 of his 13 NHL seasons with the Sharks scoring 27 goals and adding 128 assists for the team. Mike ranks 2nd in games played by a defenseman for the Sharks, appearing in 671 total games.

Mike was the Sharks 1st ever NHL draft pick and was selected 3rd overall in the 1992 NHL Draft. Standing at 6’5” with an incredibly long reach, Mike’s defensive presence was felt on the ice. After several seasons developing his game, he was soon playing against the opposing team’s top players. He established himself as a great penalty killing blue liner who was always in position and very difficult to move around.

After 11 years with San Jose, Mike traveled to Philadelphia to finish two more. His last game in the NHL was in the 2006-07 season.
