Owen Nolan
Owen Nolan is a former NHL forward and the Quebec Nordiques’ 1st overall pick in the 1990 NHL Draft. He was a part of six different NHL teams and totaled 422 goals and 463 assists in 1200 games played. He spent the more time as a member of the San Jose Sharks than any other franchise and was captain for five of his eight years in teal.
Owen is widely regarded as one of the more impactful members in San Jose Sharks history as he played a huge part in growing the sport of hockey in the Bay Area. He was traded to the Sharks in 1995 and quickly became a fan favorite. During his best season in his NHL career, Owen tied for 2nd in goals and led the Sharks with six goals in a 1st round upset against the St. Louis Blues. In one of his most memorable moments, he “called his shot” and completed a hat trick in the 1997 NHL All-Star game.
On February 7, 2012, Owen announced he would be retiring from the NHL and was promptly chosen to participate in a ceremonial puck drop against the Calgary Flames. He remains in the San Jose area where he owns two popular restaurants called Britannia Arms.
