Scott Hannan is recently retired defenseman for the San Jose Sharks and a former 1st round pick in 1997. He spent the majority of his career with the Sharks, playing in a gritty shutdown defenseman role. He is one of only six players to have played 600 or more games with the San Jose. In that time, he accumulated 30 goals and 116 assists for 146 points for the Sharks.

Hannan enjoyed an impressive career as an NHL All-Star and a member of Canada’s World Cup winning team in 2004. After 8 years in San Jose, Hannan would play for Colorado, Washington, Calgary and Nashville before coming back to San Jose. In his final few seasons he was able to enjoy the celebration of his 1000th game in a San Jose Sharks jersey.

Hannan announced his retirement on February 24, 2016 after 16 seasons in the NHL. He continues to reside in the San Jose area and still contributes to the Sharks franchise, helping with the “Little Sharks – Learn to Play Program”. He is currently a Radio and TV color analyst for the San Jose Sharks.
